Crawley 5-1 Lewes

Crawley Town kept their play-off dreams alive after romping to a massive victory over Kevin Keehan's Lewes at Broadfield stadium on Tuesday night.

The Red Devils got off to a flying start with Jon Shaw tapping home from six yards after just two minutes.

The home side were awarded a penalty just one minute later when Rikki Banks was adjudged to have fouled Shaw in the box and Sam Rents calmly slotted home the resulting spot kick to make it 2-0.

Lewes managed to steady themselves after the initial shock of the opening exchanges but fell further behind in the 38th minute when Crawley's Simon Weatherstone collected a pass from Robbie Matthews and fired a shot into the bottom-left corner from six yards.

Crawley continued to pile on the pressure and added a fourth just before the stroke of half-time when Shaw latched onto a pass from Danny Forrest and finished with an effort inside the six-yard box.

The visitors gave a better account of themselves in the second period and managed to pull one back through Joe Keehan in the 51st minute.

However, Crawley weren't done yet and further extended their advantage in the 84th minute when Adam Quinn scored with a shot from deep inside the penalty area.

Crawley bookings: Quinn 20, Chalmers 75.

Lewes bookings: Breach 35, Keehan 41, Cullip 81.

Ref: B Malone.
