Lee McEvilly

Barrow 2-0 Lewes

A goal from debutant Lee McEvilly on his debut helped Barrow AFC to a 2-0 win over Lewes at Holker Street on Saturday.

It took the striker just seven minutes to make his mark on the game when he rose to head the ball home after Brendan McGill had sent a cross in.

McEvilly had the opportunity to double his side's advantage and stamp the Bluebirds' dominance on the game from the penalty spot when he was brought down by Chris Breach in the area.

Breach was shown a red-card for the foul, but McEvilly failed to convert as he watched Lewes goalkeeper Rikki Banks save his spot-kick.

The Rooks were always going to struggle with a man less and Darren Sheridan's men made the game safe in the 61st minute when Lee Hunt headed home from close-range after Banks kept out another McEvilly effort.

The result surely spells relegation for Lewes as they have now lost 17 league games on the trot.

Barrow bookings: Logan (50).

Sent off: Breach (40).

Ref: T Harrington.

Att: 1390.
