Lewes 1-2 Kettering

Kettering Town ensured they would finish the season in the top ten with a 2-1 victory at Lewes on Tuesday night.

The Poppies started the brighter of the two sides and deserved to take the lead in the sixth minute.

Ryan Charles did brilliantly on the by-line before pulling the ball back for the easiest of finishes for Gareth Seddon.

Lewes struggled to make an impact in the first-half, with their only chance coming through Michael Standing, but his effort was well saved by Poppies goalkeeper Lee Harper.

The visitors continued to pile the pressure on the Rooks in the second period and managed to double their lead on 64 minutes.

Seddon grabbed his brace when he broke through the home side's defence before placing the ball into the back of the net.

The second goal seemed to wake the visitors up and they pulled a goal back in the 71st minute.

Joe Keehan made no mistake from the penalty spot after Poppies defender Guy Branston had brought down Ryan Storrie in the area.

The hosts continued to press towards the end, but they could not find an equaliser as Kettering hung on to the three points.

Lewes bookings: None.

Kettering bookings: L Potter.

Attendance: 343.

Referee: G Jerden.
