Weymouth 0-1 Torquay

Torquay United produced a disciplined display against Weymouth at Wessex Stadium on Boxing Day to move up to second place in the Blue Square Premier standings.

The match was short on goalmouth action with both sides keeping things tidy in defence.

The solitary goal came after 23 minutes when Torquay's Matthew Green fired an effort from outside the penalty box, into the bottom right corner of the goal.

The Terras had a golden opportunity to level the scores deep in second-half injury time but James Coutts' shot from deep inside the penalty area, went wide of the left-hand post.

Weymouth bookings: Cutler 62.

Torquay bookings: None.
