Weymouth 0-4 Salisbury

Salisbury City stretched their unbeaten run to five matches after recording a comfortable victory over ten-man Weymouth at Wessex Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Crisis-hit Weymouth never really got themselves into contention and only had one notable goalscoring chance when Kwesi Appiah hit the bar in the first half.

However, it was the visitors who looked most likely to score and they finally broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark when Chris Todd tapped home Matthew Tubbs' inswinging corner from inside the six-yard box.

The Terras then saw their chances became further limited when skipper Stephen Reed was shown a straight red card for a cynical foul on Salisbury's Luke Ruddick in the 42nd minute.

Reed hacked down Ruddick in City's half and the referee had no hesitation in brandishing a straight red card for the challenge.

The Whites started to exert their numerical advantage after the half-time break and doubled their advantage when Tubbs turned goalscorer, with a shot that took a deflection before flying into the top-right corner.

Weymouth created a few half-chances but their lack of cutting edge saw them squander what precious few chances they did have to score.

The Whites further extended their lead in the 68th minute when Charlie Griffin beat his marker on the left and cut inside, firing a shot into the bottom-right corner.

Griffin then missed out on a second goal just one minute later when his volleyed effort from a corner was just off target.

The Terras went further behind in the 71st minute when goalkeeper Simon Evans fumbled a cross and Darrell Clarke was on hand to tap home Salisbury's fourth goal of the evening.

Weymouth bookings: Cutler, Mawer.

Sent off: Reed (42).

Salisbury bookings: None.

Ref: M Thompson (England).

Att: 1,005.
