Stortford release defender Cooper

Blue Square South club Bishop's Stortford have released defender Grant Cooper.

The former Dagenham & Redbridge and Maidenhead United player, who was in his second spell with The Bishops, leaves after just ten appearances this season.

A statement on the club's official website reads: "The club has released Grant Cooper from the current playing squad. Like all well run football clubs it remains the Managers discretion as to how his team is selected and throughout an entire season to be expected that players will move on and replacements introduced".

31-year-old Cooper began his career in the Ryman League at Enfield before moving to Chesham United in May 2002.

After establishing himself as one of the best defenders in the league, Cooper then joined Stortford. Time at Dagenham & Redbridge was to follow with a switch to the League of Ireland and Dublin City occurring for the 2003/04 season.

Hemel Hempstead Town came calling a year later but the move was short-lived and Cooper found himself playing for a number of teams in quick succession. King's Lynn followed Hornchurch before Maidenhead United acquired his services in March 2007.

After fifty-four appearances for United, Cooper made a return to Stortford.
