Magpies clinch double signing

Blue Square South side Dorchester Town have bolstered their squad with the signing of Weymouth captain Kyle Critchell and Bashley's Ryan Hill.

Hill has returned to Dorchester after talks with caretaker/player-manager Ashley Vickers and went straight into the squad for Saturday's clash with Woking.

Critchell has joined the Magpies on a free transfer from local rivals Weymouth after they failed to pay his wages for the last eight weeks.

"Ryan's matured as a man and a player since he was last here," Vickers told the Dorset Echo on the return of Hill to the Avenue Stadium.

"He's a winner and even more importantly than that, he wants to play for Dorchester."

Critchell admits his decision to join Dorchester was not an easy one, "It's the most difficult decision I've ever had to make.

"I'm not doing it because of the fans, who have been fantastic, and I think Hutch has been amazing - it's been a pleasure to work for him.

"What people don't see is what is going on behind the scenes and full credit must go to the rest of the lads who have been able to stick it out."

Meanwhile, Vickers has also revealed that he's hoping to sign former Weymouth player James Coutts.

He added: "He's a quality player but, having trained with us Thursday night, he knows how high the fitness requirements are."
