Alton Thelwell
Poppies sign defender Thelwell
Blue Square Premier side Kettering Town have confirmed the signing of defender Alton Thelwell from Blue Square South outfit Newport County.
Thelwell was released by Leyton Orient at the end of last season and had trials at Bournemouth, Milton Keynes Dons and Gillingham before signing for the Exiles in November.
He made his debut in Newport's 1-0 FA Cup Third Round Qualifying defeat at Paulton Rovers and went on to make a further seven first-team appearances.
Thelwell has joined the Poppies on a free transfer but won't be eligible to play in the FA Cup or FA Trophy.
