County ease injury crisis

Blue Square South leaders Newport County have snapped up two players to ease their current injury crisis.

Dean Holdsworth's side have been ravaged by injuries in recent weeks with the Exiles boss signing a defender and a midfielder.

Cardiff City's Wales U21 international defender Aaron Morris has joined on an initial one-month loan deal alongside Bishop's Stortford's 28-year old midfielder Ashley Nicholls.

Holdsworth told the South Wales Argus: "It's perfect timing for us really, we're thrilled to welcome Aaron and Ashley on board and they can both contribute for us at a time when we're a little short.

"Aaron has the right pedigree, physique and ability to make an impact and he's desperate for some game time.

"Ashley Nicholls is a player who has been on our radar, he's an excellent player with a full-time player's mentality and I was shocked to see his name on a circular, we've moved quickly to get him.

"With Ashan Holgate, Danny Rose and Nathan Davies all out, we needed a fresh face and Ashley is a winner, he's been a captain at a lot of his clubs and I love to sign leaders."

County have also secured an extension for on loan Swansea City striker Kerry Morgan, who has agreed to stay for the remainder of the season.

"Kerry's a great prospect and has done excellently for us, he has a very good attitude, a desire to do well for this football club and the lads love him, he's a big part of things here," Holdsworth concluded.
