Newport County were denied their first win in the Conference after Histon fought back for a 2-2 draw at Newport Stadium on Saturday.
The Blue Square Bet Premier newcomers were 2-0 up after early goals by Danny Rose and Robbie Matthews. However, Romone McCrae and Erkan Okay hit back for the visitors to earn a share of the modest spoils.
In a gritty clash, the home crowd were soon cheering when Rose thundered home from distance in the sixth minute after a weak clearance fell kindly for the midfielder.
Matthews then doubled the lead 12 minutes later after Craig Reid created space before delivering an inviting near-post cross.
The Exiles managed to pull one back before the break when McCrae pounced on a clever flick from the alert Danny Mills in the 27th minute.
After the restart, the Stutes pushed forward and were rewarded just after the hour when Okay thundered home to save the visitors' blushes.
The result leaves County 19th on the table, while Histon are in comparative comfort in 10th place.
Newport bookings: None.
Histon bookings: Clerima, Attwood, Mills, Wootton.
Referee: Lee Collins (Surrey).
