Leo Roget
Blue Square South side Braintree Town have completed the signing of 31-year-old central defender Leo Roget.
Manager Lee Patterson was delighted to have signed Roget and told the Daily Post: "It's been no secret I have been looking to add another centre half and Leo ticks all the boxes in what I was looking for.
"He is a big strong lad with plenty of experience as he has been a pro all his career starting at Southend before appearing at Stockport, Reading, Rushden & Diamonds and Oxford United.
Patterson believes Roget's experience will be a huge asset to the club: "He is only 31 and has plenty to offer the squad.
"He is a natural leader, which will help the younger players. I spoke to Gillingham manager Mark Stimson about Leo and his description of what sort of player Leo is just what I need."
The Town boss was set to sign Liam Harwood but explains why he opted for Roget instead: "I had agreed a deal with Bristol Rovers for Liam Harwood to come in on loan, but Leo came in to train and has done really well.
"I would like to thank Lennie Lawrence for understanding our situation when someone permanent became available."
Roget has made 279 Football League and cup appearances for Southend, Stockport County, Reading, Brentford, Rushden & Diamonds and Oxford United.
