Forest Green Rovers picked up a much-needed three points when they beat Salisbury 3-1 at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium on Tuesday evening.
First-half strikes by Toni Ameobi, Jonathan Smith and Reece Styche and the sending off of Whites stopper James Bittner meant that the visitors had the game sown up by half-time.
Dave Hockaday's charges enjoyed early dominance and it was no surprise when they took the lead in the 16th minute when Ameobi pounced to slot the ball home after Bittner had parried it into his path following an Isaiah Rankin shot on goal.
Smith then doubled his side's lead when he netted from close range just after the half-hour mark before Styche blasted home a fantastic effort from just outside the area two minutes before the break.
Just when the home side thought things couldn't get any worse Bittner was sent off for a deliberate handball when he was adjudged to have been outside the area while attempting to smother Conal Platt's effort.
Jamie Turley scored a consolation goal in the 58th minute for the Whites when he headed home a Danny Ireland corner, but it proved to be too little too late.
Salisbury bookings: Anderson.
Sent Off: Bittner (45).
Forest Green bookings: Stonehouse.
Ref: Steve Creighton (Berkshire).
Att: 665.
