Kidderminster 0-1 Salisbury

Kidderminster Harriers' poor run of form continued when they suffered back-to-back home defeats after a 1-0 loss to Salisbury at Aggborough.

England C international Matt Tubbs netted the only goal of the game to give the Whites a much-needed win and move them further away from the relegation zone.

The home side came close to grabbing an early advantage when Martin Riley's powerful header went just over the bar from a corner.

Although the Harriers enjoyed early dominance they found themselves a goal down after 24 minutes when Tubbs pounced on a poor header back by Luke Prosser to find himself behind Harriers stopper Ross Atkins and he made no mistake with an open net beckoning.

Steve Burr's charges almost found themselves back on level terms just a few minutes later when Chris McPhee set up Brian Smikle, whose low driven shot was well saved by a diving Ryan Price.

The second period failed to deliver as a spectacle and the closest the home side came was through chance by McPhee and Jack Byrne, who both fired golden opportunities over the bar.

The Whites almost wrapped up the tie right before the death when substitute Jake Reid failed to find the target after he was granted a free-header in the area, but in the end the single goal proved to be enough as Salisbury held on for the win.

Kidderminster bookings: Kerry, Lawrie.

Salisbury bookings: Giles, Clarke, Pryce.

Ref: Richard Fletcher (Belper).
