Luton 4-0 Salisbury

In-form Luton applied further pressure on Blue Square Premier leaders Stevenage by hammering Salisbury City 4-0 at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday night.

The Hatters cruised to their seventh straight win thanks to first-half strikes by Frenchman Claude Gnakpa and Tom Craddock, coupled with efforts from Jake Howells and Simon Heslop after the restart.

The result saw the hosts, who have now wracked up 21 goals in their last four games, leapfrog Oxford to go second on the standings - five points behind Boro.

The Whites, meanwhile, are hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone in 17th place.

After a goalless opening 30 minutes, Gnakpa headed in his sixth goal in three games after getting on the end of George Pilkington's telling cross from the right.

Eight minutes later, Craddock tapped in his 18th goal of the campaign from close-range following a strong run and cross from Freddie Murray down the left flank.

After the restart, Craddock turned provider as he passed to Howells who fired home for his third goal in four games.

Town continued to press and completed the rout when Heslop scored his first goal in Luton colours after finishing off Kevin Gallen's toe-poke from close-range.

Luton bookings: Howells.

Salisbury bookings: None.

Ref: Robert Merchant (Staffordshire).
